Hi to all,
I am disabled and the FWI is a little too difficult to hook-up. So I connected a 9'' cone filter to the MAF. The supercharger sounds great!
But my temperature gauge shows an increase in temps around town driving in traffic plus I live on the Oregon coast and the summertime temps are around 65 degrees. What should I do about the temperature increases and if I paid a shop to install the FWI ( I have the piping 3.5 inch) would the driving engine temps be more stable? I think hooked up to the MAF in the engine compartment, at red lights the SC is sucking in hot air from the engine showing temp increases on the panel guage.
Thanks ,
Robert

if it's just an open cone i would imagine that it's sucking in the HOT air from your headers and overall engine heat. fenderwell intakes sounds like a great idea but what happens when it rains? doesn't it get into the filter? and what about salt and snow? i never liked the idea of a FWI for everyday driving. i would look into this setup from 3800 performance. a little pricey but a very good setup. and you probably could install it yourself. saving you installationg cost of a FWI. some more people might reply with their opinion. check out my grand prix gt with a thrasher CAI http://www.cardomain.com/id/fallen_blade

If you already have the tubing then all you need to do to lower your temps is pop your headlight shove the cone in there. Clamp the cone to a 2" hard PVC or ABS ring and clamp your tubing onto the other side. Then clamp the other end of the tubing to the MAF.

If you could install an open cone I am sure you could install your FWI.

The headlight will pop out if you lift up on the white tab leaving enough room to fit a 9" cone into the fender area.

Good Luck!
