need advice please...

i have a 1997 honda accord that makes a very loud noise when locking the doors. it comes only from the rear passenger side door. is there a broken belt or something there...if someone knows what it is what will the dealer chargew me for parts/labor???

secondly, about 3 years ago the paint on the trunk and top of the car started to fade and is now quite noticeable...is this covered by warranty..also what is the cost to paint those faded areas only???

1. what kind of noise are you hearing and, does your door lock? or does it just make the sound?

2. paint more than likely is not covered under any warranty, but painting the area, will depend upon how big it is, if there is any rust forming, and if the color is a rare one or not.

The door does lock but make a VERY LOUD NOISE LIKE SOMETHING IS GRINDING YOU CAN HEAR IT FROM 100 feet away(very embarassing) sounds like it is coming from just inside the rear passenger door and is definitley liked to the automatic keyless door lock function...also if you lock the door from the main drivers' side it engages all 4 doors to lock and makes the noise.

The paint is fading on the top(around the sunroof) and the trunk...the color is a light gold "champagne"- looked very nice originally...

thanks for the reply.....I thought the "noise" from the door was common...in fact I walked by someone's accord the other day and heard the EXACT SAME NOISE...

I have the exact same car and have the exact same problem!! I know what you mean about being embarassing. The only differnce is mine sounds like it is coming from the front passangers side. The only thought that I have is that it could be the lock motor. I think that I am just going to have to take it to a Honda dealership and let them tell me what it is. If you do find out, please let me know and I will surley do the same!!
