funky noise

dont know if it's just me...but for some time now, every now and then, i notice some grinding or whirring sound coming from the rear (i think) of the car when the car is turned off....at first i thought it might be the fan inside the airvents in the cabin....but i notice the noise even when the car is shut off....anyone gots that problemo?

yeh, it's weird....not really a grinding noise but a whirring noise i guess....

Is is really loud? Could be the fuel pump winding down. In fact I think that's the only thing back there that could whir or buzz.

Or it could be the flux capacitor! :D

...maybe his fetzal valve isnt capitulating properly, eh Jason?? lol... :D

oh well, it's been like that off and on ever since i got my car..the dealer said it's nothing....then it's probably nothing cuz i am really anal when it comes to my car.....i get mad when the car is dusty....hehehe

I heard the same noise after about a week I pick up my 99 G. That I life the car up and look underneath, I found there is a black plastic box on the left side behind the rear bumper. I guess the noise was from there. Since that time I never hear it again, so I wasn't even interested to find out what the hell was that black box.

Eww ewww ewww I know the answer to this one!!!!!! The black box in the rear of our car is the charcoal canister and on the side of it is the purge control valve (both went bad on my 200sx and they are identical to the G's it looks like). Anyways you get that every now and then because either that valve is opening or closing, I think it closes, because I believe the purpose is to store the gas vapors and later release them back into the intake? Maybe, or I could be wrong lol but I know its that wonderful pollution bull crap....

Also - its not the power anttena is it? Anyone else noisy?

Could it be the rear speakers? Sometimes you can get interferance on the speaker cables coming from the headunit to the back of the car. I dont really know if its possible witht the car turned off!

i get that noise from my car too. but it doesn't do it when the car is at a complete stop or when the car picks up speed (above 30-40mph. it only does it when wheel is rolling at a slow speed. it comes from the rear and happens on and off from time to time. does anyone know what's wrong w/ it?
(i don't think my break pads are wron out).
