I was wondering if anyone knows of a more sporty engine I can put in my corolla, with limited mods.

Can I put a celica motor in there?

Thanks
Tom

Sure why not? YOu might actually go for an afterburner from an F-14. I think not. Try a damn search

Thank Saint Fuck we have people like WissNX01 to steer them right. Now how can I fit a twin turbo WRX engine into my Civic?

I don't doubt the validity in what he has said. Then again we don't know the persons age or what they are hoping to do. so instead of offering advice we squash there ideas and dream. Very nice. Hope someone can come and smash up my dream sometime! Courtesy only teakes a second but being an asshole stays with you forever

You know as i sit back and read my post above, i realize i snapped that out. I guess my hopes are as a moderator you would want to foster growth of knowledge on the board. For example just telling the kid you can do a 4agze switch or step up into the 7afe and switch the head because of the compression settings. Stupid kids do stupid things. thats why i find great cars in the junk yard. But hey it's there money and dream. He took the time to post his question on here and not just slam nitrous into his sytem and put a fat pipe on it. The kid who asked how to make his car louder is more an idiot than this guy. But we humoured him with responses. The sad fact is not many people are doing much with these mid year corolla's. its not the ae86 (which is sadly overhyped) and it isn't brand new. A few people have still made competitve rally cars from the ae 101-102. It holds the same motor that toyota and ford ran in the wrc for those years with good results. and it isn't far from the SECA motor toyota did so well with. But hey thats my opinion and everyone has one.

Im not squashing dreams, everyone wants to swap, but out of all the people that want to , how many actually scrape a few dimes together to make it happen? not many. If you want true power, the best thing to do is to bore and hone your cylinders for bigger pistons, or change to a different head gasket size for higher compression. other than a turbo, a corolla just isnt going to have any real gain from a bolt on. I have a program that will show you that. Im realistic, Kell31

also humoring someone with a response opens a forum up for aruguing. Sometimes being realistic is better, otherwise people really would want to jam a WRX into a civic.

Wiss the response you just gave was ll you really needed to say though. Instead of grabbing the pratt and whitneys out of an f-14. And as far as jamming a wsx into a civic. Let them try. Trying new things is invention. kind of like fabbing new parts for a motor. it's all trial and error. I'm not trying to offend. Just thought it wasa litlle harsh to someone who is new on the boards. I guess it might be a way to keep membership down

I have no problem with someone that is actually capable of fabricating something new. an 18 year old who just got grandmas old car is not going to do something new. Everyone always wants easy horsepower for a couple of bucks. Its not going to happen without serious internal modification. Thats my point. I had to learn the hard way, but I learned.

:1:
You are correct - he asked the question and got the piss taken out of him. If he stated something more like:
I own this car
I have saved $4000
I have talked to my mechanic
He has made these recomendations: x, y and z
What do you recommend and why?

he would have gotten a serious response. As it stands, none of that happened and it is highly unlikely he will ever swap his engine.

My car originally came with the blue top version of the 4AGE with 88kW. I got a 100kW black top 4AGE, swapped em and organised a top shelf rebuild with cams, shaved head etc to reach my power goals.

The main reason kids like this are frequently put in their place around here is because there is already a wealth of information about toyota engine swaps etc. on the internet and they are so lazy they won't even read them before coming out with something stupid.

I know what you mean. I have the opportunity to go to automotive school right now, and of course I am going. And its constantly a bash session for those guys that install a cai and claim to blow off cameros in their civic.

I think cars are awesome things to mess with, providing that a person is willing to do some internal modificatin. The corolla engine is unique in a way that Toyota has already optimized the engine, at least 1998 and better. They are severly computer controlled, which is good and bad. A CAI or a different exhaust setup on these new cars could throw a MIL and these kids dont understand why. Civics, corollas, sentras, and other compacts, are economy cars.

Personally I am impressed with the WRX. Theres a car that is awesome. I heard one the other day, I swore it was a 4-barrel Monte Carlo or a Mustang. No, it was a WRX setting off alarms.

I just get sick of dumb ass questions. Maybe Im intollerant of new ideas?

Automotive school, thats a great opportunity. I was fortunate enough to be turning wrenches on cars since i was ten. The computers were a new thing to learn but some of the kids out there are so smart they have come up with ways to get past them already. I am all about kids working on cars. Even if they roach them because it is the best way to learn. I would never be able to do a brake job if i didn't screw it up and have my pops show me the right way. So you want to jam a wrx into your corolla? Go for it. Figure out the transmission and engine mounts and strat it up. The only thing that keeps me from trying it is the cost. I think you can never get your money out. But that isn't the auto mechanic in me. It's the bill paying adult.
The corolla is so easy to work on it makes it a great car to learn on. also any VW before 1990 is a dream to work with. Any car can be re tuned though. You can always strat adding in Cat deletes and what not to fool the computer into runnig the car the way you want it. Or you could just add in your own computer node. Both of these are ways to get the car to tune the way you want it. WRX is nice but Evo is so much better.

Anyone that ever endured a blizzard in Pennsylvania can appriciate a Subaru forever, considering they could get places plows or big ass trucks couldnt.

I turned wrenches a little when I was younger with my dad, but it wasnt till after I got out of the military when I found out how much of that I actually retained. School is almost like a refresher course, except in my dads day, they didnt used computers as intensivly.

The Subaru is an amazing machine. I would love to get one. The AWD is an amazing improvement. Plus they are relatively light weight. I know a guy who used to race them all over Scotland. He complained the porsches kicked his ass in the straight away but no one could beat him in the corners. The Evo has impressed the hell out of me. AWD and sure foooted as all get out. Plus a lot more available HP. Shame Mitsi might go broke
