read this first: http://www.tein.com/edfc-fit.html
It turns out (from the info on this page) that the motors for the EDFC will not fit on the front coilovers. It says nothing about this on almost all of the websites I visited looking for the lowest price. So before you go out and buy an EDFC, or damping coilovers for that matter, make sure you read this and know what you are getting into!

They WILL work with the Tein Flex coilovers, but not with the SS's on most Civics. The SS's have the EDFC hood clearance issue, the Flex's somehow don't have that issue.

How do you know this? Because if you are right then the website is wrong and maybe should not be consulted. Because the site says that the front coilovers dont have room for the EDFC motors on the Flex.

I've spoken to Tein reps. IN PERSON about the EDFC system. The no front clearance are only an issue for the systems that it WON'T work with. If the fronts didn't work with the Flex, it would have a special note next to it about it. Also, the EDFC must have ALL 4 motors connected and functioning to even work. If only the rears worked for the Flex, then they couldn't say that they have a part number for them. BTW, the site doesn't say that they don't work with the Flex, just that there is clearnace issues, but doesn't say what model for. ;) I know what models though after talking to a Tein USA employee.
Simple answer to this is to email them about it, they can tell you straight up better than their website can.

ah, thanks Silver. I see now how the site is set up. Maybe someone should sticky this thread as it is more of a reference thread and might help people looking at adjustable damping coilovers.
