noob question.

i searched, i own a 92 buick regal with like 250k on it tranny is not doing very well, hard shifts, checked the fluid and its dark, i havent checked the level yet with it started, but right now it says its very low. What kind of fluid should i put in it?

Dextron II or Dextron III/Mercron Either one will work. The Dextron III/Mercron is more heat resistant. A good fluid change can work wonders for an old automatic.

should i flush it while im at it? if so where is the drain plug, and where do i fill it from.

I wouldn't flush it. This could actually do more harm than good in your situation. I would perform a filter change though. This will get a little more than half the old fluid out, the rest of it remains in the torque converter. There is no drain plug for the transmission. You must drop the pan. You also fill it through the dipstick. There is no other way to fill it.

This is a messy job if you have never done it before. If you plan to do it let us know so we can give you some detailed pointers.

thank you for all the help, i just put some new fluid in her, see if that makes a differnece, if not i might change the filter.
