Doctored Transmissions

I just wanted to share a little piece of information with all you folks out there, something I recently found out to my cost. Maybe you already knew, (and if you did where were you when I bought my car) but you can doctor a transmission. I was under the impression that you couldn't do that, except to tear it down and maybe slap in a part that will keep it going till the dishonest dealership got the vehicle sold. However, I was wrong. All you have to do is pour some brake fluid into the transmission and it will fix anything that may be wrong with it for a short time. The way you can tell that this has been done to a car is to pull the transmission and look at the seals. Brake fluid is incompatible with the rubber the seals are made of, and they will swell. If anybody knows of a way you can check to see if this has been done to a car without tearing the trans apart, let me know. I am going to check my car just to make certain, and then I know a certain dealership that is going to get a major @$$ chewing. :swear: good luck ya'll.

Sounds like a bad deal there. Hope it doesn't turn out that way...
