88 Lude shifting?

I keep getting dogged, by every one on the streets. even a riced civic. MY lude is totattly stock an si, so I was woundering where should I be shifting and at what rpm should I launch? ive been shifting at about 7,200 rpm, (my tach rpm is 7,000 rpm redline)

How many miles is on your car... that could be the source of the problem. Old engines don't perform well. In any case, you should be shifting at a little over 6200rpm, because the 2.0L Si's engine does not make any power past that point.

And you may have met a Civic Si.

No 3g ludes redline at 7k rpm. JDM b20a's redline at 6500rpm I believe, B20a5's redline at 6750rpm, b21a1's at 6500rpm.... And your shifting at 7200rpm?! Did you know at 7200rpm the ECU cuts fuel to the engine? That's a no-no, and no-one should rev these engines so high unless they are built. I hope your bearings aren't jacked.

Your probly losing to all these civics because you most likely need a rebuilt (mainly due to piston rings (95mm stroke & a Rod:Stroke of 1.49))
This means its not an engine that likes to be revved too high, it's not very good to over-rev this one or you might be greeted by your connecting rod at a bad time.

im sorry my mistake, the tach redline is at 6,800 but I shift right at 7,000, and it stops dead at 7,200. my mistake I miss typo.

also I have 160,000 miles on it, but I had valve work done at 110,000 miles if that means anything.

also I find when going up steep hills shifting at 6,000 rpm producs more toque and better acceleration.
so what do you think. I need a rebuild?

You will know if you have to rebuild when you do a leakdown test on the engine...
