I want to transfer a Caprice Classsic 8 cylinder rebuilt engine (which has 277 miles on it) to a different car or truck, which makes and models are compatible with this machine? It is an 8 cylinder 5.7 350 engine. Any info you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated as the car would be the only means of transportation for my son and I. :1zhelp:

If the car you want to swap it into also has a chevy V8 it will most likely work, you may have to swap the ECM ( if it has one) and wiring harness for the engine, but other than that it should just bolt right in.

Thanks for the info. Kooterskkar,do you think this holds true to newer models like say a '96 Impala or Tahoe?

Only if they use the same transmission. There were quite a few different trannies that were used with the older v8's. I cant think of all of em off the top of my head. Only one that comes to mind right now is the 700r4 turbo-hydramatic (cuz thats the one my caprice had). I had a bookwith all the different ones but I dont know what happend to it.
So what exactly are you gonna swap? You wanna get a newer 350 from an impala or something and swap it into your car?

Actually What I want to do is take the rebuilt engine out of my '84 caprice classic and swap it into a 95-96 impala or caprice, maybe one I can get from a police auction or somewhere cheap. Thanks kooterskkar

I dunno how well that would work. Youd have to swap the intake manifold and feul injection stuff from the other engine to yours. May even have to swap the heads. The newer cars rely alot more on the ECM to run the engine. Youd have to swap sensors and all kinds of other stuff too im sure. It would bolt in the same. But theres alot more to makin it run than just boltin it in.
