Chevy Colorado starting problems

I recently purchased a 2004 Chevy Colorado ZQ8. Overall, I like the truck, but since the weather started getting warmer, I have experienced a problem with starting it when it is over 70 degrees outside, particularly when it is sunny.

The problem:
When I turn the key to the start position, nothing happens. Then, after I release it, the engine turns over and starts. After a couple seconds, the engine stalls. After repeating this sequence a few times, the engine keeps running, but the security light on the dash stays on, indicating there is a problem with the theft-deterrent system or some related thing. If the temperature is cool outside, it starts up normally.

I have an appointment at a Chevy dealer to look at the problem, but being an intermittent problem, I don't have a whole lot of faith that they will find it and fix it. I was wondering if anyone else has had or heard of this problem, and if they might know what causes it. Computer malfunction? Intermittent sensor? Bad software?

We have a 2000 Impala and we had a similar problem in cooler weather but not in warm weather. However, I don't remember anything about the security light. When we took it to the dealer for the oil change we asked them about it, but I am pretty sure that it didn't do it when they started it. That reminds me, I am pretty sure that it did it mostly on cold starts. If you figure it out, please let me know. I will reply if we figure anything out, but I don't think that we will until winter, if then.

I have the truck at the Chevy dealer right now. Hopefully they will find the problem and fix it under warranty. I'll let you know what they come up with. It seems like it has something to do with the Theft-Deterrent system.

I'm supposed to pick the truck today. They ended up replacing the ignition switch. Hopefully that will be the end of that problem.

I have a 2004 Colorado and it is having the same problem with starting during warm weather. Did replacing the starter work?
