On 6 9 04 the serpentine belt (timing belt) in my 2000 VW Passat snapped and took out the wiring assembly. The belt literally wrapped around the assembly leaving the car inoperable. The dealership has been looking for a VW Passat front end so that they can take the wire assemblly from it and transplant it in my car. I have been advised that they have ckd salvage yards in the area and on the East and West Coast. The alternative is to replace each individual wire, which will add up to hours and hours of the mechanics time and cost to me. I have been advised that this is not covered under Warranty and not covered by my insurance. This car has been in the shop for oil pan damage, Engine replacement and now this. The first time it was in the shop for 3 months and cost me $500 deductible and I paid $2000 for rental cars. The second time it was in the shop for 2 months and I paid $1500 for rentals. Now it has been in the shop almost 1 month and I have paid $800 for rental and will be paying for more, plus the cost of the repair. I cannot afford to pay $90 and hour for each wire to be re attached. Can someone offer some help in finding the front end/wire assemby? Can someone provide any direction as to where do I get any assistance in covering this repair?
