venom 400

Hey guys...I've been reading about the veom 400. It sounds like a pretty sweet system, but i can't seem to find any reviews from people that've actually used it on our car ('92 240). I need some solid evidence before i get it; so any help would be appreciated.

i had it... for $300 it didn't do shit! by yourself a header or exhaust instead.

all it does is push the throttle to 100% when it sees a sharp jump in throttle response. that's it. the same affect can be acheived by pushing all the way down on the pedal (which, believe it or not, some people don't do, which is why they see a gain in power when they install it).

lol....well if it acts like you have a wide open throttle early, then what happens when you actually DO go wide open (peddle all the way down)?

Your better off saving up for a turbo or strengthening the internals for possible future turboing..

i drive 28 miles to work and back everyday, plus the same distance to the club 2x a week....turbo= not a great idea for me

If you drive so much just get a frickin' fuel miser like a daihatsu charade, or toyota corolla. I doubt with a worked on stock ka motor will really see you get any suffiecent performance. Unless your willing to rebuild the whole engine with strengthened internals and planinng on a bore/stroke kit.
Suffice to say, get a house closer to the things you drive to! :D

Turbo=great idea for you. Turbos, when tuned correctly, can be extremely reliable. 5psi daily will produce about 200hp and cut low 14s all day. And scenes how you are looking at other stuff, headers, exhaust intake, the turbo will bypass the headers and cost about what all that stuff costs together. If you really do a budget kit, you can customize one for under 1000. The most expensive part will be the manifold and that is 370 on ebay right now.

i was planning on doin' that before...i wanted to do 5-6 psi on stock internals, but it started to get north of $2k, so i scrapped it. I'd LOVE to do that!

turbos get better gas mileage than n/a. when i was boostin 12psi (and i drive very hard all the time), i was getting 27mpg city.

what'd you have to run to do 12psi though? and how much hp were you doin' then? that must've been nice...12psi sounds pretty sweet to me...i don't think i'd like to do more than that anyways

i was running 13psi at the track and ran a 13.6... it was very fast. the turbo was only holding 11 though. it would spike to 13 and hold 11.

i had a fmic and manual boost controller. thats about it. i also had a blitz ecu and i think it was the boost up model, but im not sure (it made QUITE a difference).
