DB7 Vantage Vs 550 Maranello

"Although DB7 Vantage is not priced to compete with Ferrari’s mighty 550M, it is still worthy to see how they compare. Bearing in mind the DB7 is not a traditional Aston, you won’t be too surprised that this Aston is so similar to the Ferrari flagship - both are front-engined, rear-drive GT and powered by a large V12 with 400-excess horsepower. In our memory, the Aston should be V8-powered.
Fire the Cosworth-cast V12 and you’ll hear a wonderful yowl which is not just the summation of 2 Duratec V6s. The hollow, multi-layer sound resembles the mighty Daytona even more than the 550M. While the 6-litre capacity feels torquey at low and mid range, it is left away by the Ferrari’s 65hp advantage at high speed. The Maranello engine feels much more sporty, pulls strongly across all the rev. It still sings beautifully and spins eagerly at red line, which is not the Aston can match.
But the Aston wins the braking match. Despite of being 90kg heavier, it has larger Brembo discs all round : 355mm diameter in front versus Ferrari’s 330mm, 330mm at the rear versus 318mm. Braking power is stronger yet the pedal feels progressive.
The Aston rides on softer suspensions setting, hence a supple ride but less sporty handling. The chassis seems not as tightly controlled as the Ferrari. The less aggressive tyres obviously generate less grip. Worst of all, although the steering is well-weighted it feels dull and lacks communication that a truly exciting car deserves. While 550M feels like a leopard the Vantage is more like a sleepy lion.
After all, the Aston is not intended to be a focused sports car as the Ferrari. Its customers are those mature riches wanting prestige yet a relax motoring experience. Drive the DB7 Vantage day to day is deemed to be a joy. Doing the same to the Ferrari always require more effort and an enthusiasm.
However, it is not said the DB7 Vantage has scored the highest marks in the fields it ought to be. The quality of craft, the material used and the design in the cabin are actually lower than Ferrari. This is also why I said it is not a traditional Aston."

i agree with that, but you obviously cant have both in the same package so which would you want? i believe thats the point of the poll, to choose one of the options and not all of them!
cheers

I'd take the Aston then, it may be less powerful but 400hp is plenty for me - and it looks so damn cool.:) :)

I wasn't asking because I thought you were lying, I just knew you didn't write that. Turns out it's copyrighted material, in the future when you qoute something that's copyrighted you should at least respectfully cite your source. Truthfully you should post only the link and not the material, as it's against the law to reuse that without prior consent.

Whatever, you still need to give credit to the sources. I myself write articles online, and there's nothing more frustrating than someone plagiarizing my work without giving me any credit. A good bit of time and effort goes into creating a good article (not to mention the years of learning behind the author's knowledge), the least a reader can do is give the author credit when qouting them. Slow connections or not, give the author credit and DO NOT copy legally protected material onto other sites without prior permission. 'Nuff said.
Ps- Some of my writings are actually copyrighted, and I WILL go after those that copy them with no respect to the author.

This is personal, if I error in not placing the origin of this, you must have ordered a private message to me as the other moderators make. And is soon knowing that I do not have fear of threats, is in yours that I am in mine ok!

This is not personal, I was merely making an example based upon my prior experiences regarding copyrighted material. AF is the one on the hook if we allow people to post copyrighted material in these forums, not you, and I was trying to handle it personably by illustrating your minor error without drawing upon the need for personal messages (which always illicit more negative personal repsonses in my experience), and to which I corrected this error to the best of my ability while additionally explaining what you should instead do in the future regarding such posts. And further, I posted this information not just for your eyes but so that all others reading this would understand exactly what the rules of conduct are in such cases. So don't get your panties in a wad, I make mistakes too and don't get all freaked out when someone points them out. I formally apologize if it seems like I am singling you out, but for the benefit of the entire user group here at AF I stand by my actions. AF cannot condone the unauthorized posting of copyrighted material in any of it's forums, and reserves the right to notify any and all registered members of this fact.

it's pretty obvious he wasn't the one who wrote the article. I mean how could he talk about both of them in that way without actually seeing/hearing/driving them in person.
I think all he would've had to do is add the link to it.. If people go after him for copyright infringement because he posted it on a message board, then they are extremely anal retentive and shouldn't have their articles on the net but in print instead ;) lol
My opinion and it's copyrighted so don't go stealing it
