Anyone know if MIVEC 1.8L version is available in Australia?

Technically, there is no such thing as a MIVEC 1.8L engine. From what I've read online and in magazines, Mitsubishi made the MIVEC 1.6L, which is an inline 4-cylinder engine, and the MIVEC 2.0L, a V6. I've not read anything about a MIVEC 1.8L, though they are working on a MIVEC for their SUV lineup.
Although, if you took the head off of a 1.8L and replaced it with the head of a MIVEC 1.6L, you could (theoretically) create a hybrid, sort of along the same lines as the Acura LS-to-VTEC ("Frankenstein") swap.
Anything is possible... depends on how much money you have to spend.

Hmm... a Hybrid...
That really does sounds interesting and Challenging at the same time.
I guess you are right about how much money one wants to spend.
In creating a Hybrid, prob have to create a test engine and do loads of testing... even to the point of destuction.
At this time, I might stick to 1.6L and see... who knows...
1.8L hybrid MIVEC with turbo.
Thanks for the info.
