Have 1999 Dodge Durango w/318. How do I cure engind pinging. Originally did it when kicking down to pasing gear on interstate, but now does it when accelerating anytime. Also, the exhaust has a "sulfur" (best as I can describe it) smell. What could cause that.

Yeah the cat is pretty clogged. Replace it and find the cause of the problem, there has to be something wrong with the vehicle if it destroys a cat like that. Is your check engine light on by any chance?

No, check engine light not on. What sort of problems could I be facing? Are these cats clamped or welded on? Any idea on engine pinging?

Would all this cause my problems and plugged up cat?

You should be seeking an exhaust specialist. I can't even remember if mine was welded on or clamped on, but it must have been one or the other. It's hard to say...

Replace the cat. Then the truck will purr again :)

(I hate cats.... both kinds)
