I went to a used dealer today and found an eclipse that was lowerd, bodykit, and i think an exhaust, well i dunno much about mitsubishis, but this is the best chance i got to get one for cheap 2999, but i dunno what model it is, it doesnt matter but i just wanna know, well the gauges read 160 and i thought only gsx's and gs-t's read that, but im not sure i couldnt read the back cuz the previous owner musta shaved it down so im thinkin its an rs or gs, but if anyone could tell me lemme know, if i get it ill post pics...

that just sounds shady if you ask me. find out from the dealer/owner what model it is. if they're not even honest enough to tell you, then i'd say it's not worth the risk, chances are if they're shady like that... something's gotta be wrong.
chances are if the owner shaved it, it must've been an RS or GS.

all eclipse gauges go to 170... atleast the 2nd gens do! not sure about the 1g's but the last number shown is 160 although there is 2 dashes for another 10mph after that!
anyways if thats a turbo model buy it up quick cause that's cheap! if not its still cheap for a non turbo but non turbos kinda suck for power!

1g or 2g? Chances are it's a RS since the price is so low. Look under the hood... does the intake pipe go to a turbo or straight to the TB?

you can also see the SMIC from the front too, not opening the hood. how many miles are on this thing?

98,000 miles on it, it looks pretty nice cept the speaker were taken out, the dealer said the people who had it really want the car or w/e but they had to trade it in or sumthin, ill find out more about it today. Im gunna just buy a new engine, but it its an rs or gs can they use the same engines? I just wanna like replace watever it has, i dont wanna get into anything complicated, but like wats the engine code for the rs and gs?

In the 2nd gen GST you can see the turbo from the top. It's on the left side kinda in the middle of the engine bay. I don't know about the GSX. You could tell the diff if you drove it, too.

There is no engine bay difference in these models...just a drivetrain difference.

Damn well i test drove the car today, and its shit, lol, the suspension sux ass, and the exhaust smokes like a mother fucker, i think the previous owner cut the springs, the tires are worn, and i dunno if this is all eclipse's but every gear seems to be on the far left side, and there all close together. So im gunna just keep looking, i saw another eclipse looked pretty nice for 5000, imma try to talk him down, lol.

Ya its a bitch, but all id have to do is buy a new fuel pump, new suspension, and new sound system. O ya the right door handle is like snapped off, lol, but if I fixed all that then i could probably sell it for alot, but im thinking around 1500 to fix the suspension and fuel pmp right?

yea u should juss look for one thats in shape. to buy an eclipse and have to fix it up its kind of a waste of money. CUz it takes you a little more money to maintain than a Hon-Duh.

True! My dad's got a Honda. He was so mad when I bought a Mitsubishi. He told me that I would have nothing but problems with it... Well, a couple thousand later, I'm finally realizing he's right. I just keep thinking that if I fix just this one more time it will be ok...

well i know this is the wrong thred to be asking you guys this but what about a 1990 300zx? I found one for 3000, it says complete swap twin turbo, but i dunno wat they meant by swap, but what do you guys think?

the way you could tell the difference from a GS to an RS is the rear brakes. The GS has disc brakes and the RS has drum brakes. The difference from GS to GS-T/GS-X is the turbo and all the obivous components.
