trouble with cooling system

the car(1994 olds 88) overheated and started losing coolant. changed the waterpump and hoses. the water just pours out now when added to the radiator. source seems to be close to the waterpump but cannot see a thing. please advice.

My 97 Eighty Eight is losing water somewhere also but can't tell where. Radiator and coolant has to be filled up each morning but when you fill it up none is leaking out the bottom of the car so I don't know where it is going? HELP! Thanks for anyones time and help.

Are you sure the gasket was put on correctly? And did you use any kind of sealant? I prefer to put a thin coating of VersaChem or PermaTex RTV sealant on the gasket surfaces before installing the gasket. I like using the Super Blue RTV from Advance Auto. It is a Anaerobic sealant, meaning that it cures without air. Were the gasket surfaces cleaned properly? It sounds as though you might have to remove the pump again to spot the problem. Oh, and as for the member who is losing coolant, but can't identify from where: Check your oil dipstick and your transmission dipstick also. Your problems could range from as simple as a system that remains full of extra air, to a broken head gasket. If you have oil that looks like milk, you probably have a head gasket going out. You may also have just an intake gasket leaking. Either way, it requires a bit of labor. The other option is that your radiator may have ruptured internally, causing the mixing of coolant, oil, and transmission fluid. Of course this also depends if your car has a transmission cooler built in to the radiator or if it is a external unit. -Chris
