Salvaged?

My $6,000 (according to blue book) GSR just got $4,000 in damage to it while it was parked. Isn't that supposed to salvage the title or do something to dramatically lower its value? I think my insurance company might have just screwed me over by saying its repairable. But to make the best of a bad situation I'm gonna buy an OEM VIS CF Hood so I don't have to buy a new one and have it painted and buy an already painted OEM bumper off of ebay. That way it'll at least match till I paint it all black. Fenders... I think I'll just go OEM on those too.

Sounds to me like you got screwed by your insurance, but I'm no expert. But wit h$4G's worth of damage to a $6G car, seems like they'd total it. However if it's just cosmetic damage (hood, bumper, and fenders) and no major mechanical damage then maybe that's why they didn't total it out.

They only total a car if they damage excedes the value of the car, so if the damage was $6,001 then the car would be totalled.

My car was parked and this lady had a seizure and hit mine along with 3 others' cars. She pushed my car about 20 feet and hit the front passenger; I got it the worse. I have pics. It got the front bumper, the fender, the hood, crushed in the wheel and did some more damage in that area. I couldn't pop the hood, but Im wondering if I can ask for money for unforseen damages to stuff they wouldn't know about but might cost me later on. As far as the salvage, they told me its different. Some companies will actually total it out at 50% or 75%.

get a mechanic u kno to evaulate it, because 2/3 value is for all practical purposes a totaled car.
They generally have to take the evalutation of a tech if hes actually certified
what car is it, anyway

They add in the cost of labor and everything into that, so it can add up really quick. I recently hit a tree with my car, and now it has about $7k worth of damage to it, but I could probably fix it myself for about $1k. They go with the price of brand new parts, a professional installing them, and then the spendy cost of paint.

This sounds like you want it to have a salvaged title. Its good that they said its repairable right. If your insurance covers the damage and not says its salvaged then you were lucky. A salvaged title is crap and something you dont want hangin over you. And yes a salvaged title is issued when a cars cost to repair exeeds the value of te car itself.
