what color do you guys use for wood grain interiors? i'm working on a 72 charger and making part of the dash wood grain. just picked up NATO brown (xf-68), thought it might closely imitated wood grain. it's flat acrylic so i thought i might put a light mist of clear coat over it to give it a semi-gloss look. but now i'm questioning my buy. anyone have any suggestions to simulate wood grain or recommend another color?

Gunze Mr. Color and Mr. Hobby Color has a variety of brown colors that are semi-gloss. I've used them in the past for my wood grain interiors.

Links to some color charts.

I have used oil paints in the past with very effective results. I usually combine two shades, one darker than the other ( derr! obviously, sorry), apply one colour over the whole area then streak the other shade through it, then use a flat clean brush to smude / blend the colours together. The only problem is it takes a long while to dry. Its best done as the last stage to an interior build. Its also a very useful trick for props on 1st ww biplanes.
