Where To Buy Keyless Entry Remotes

Hi,
I'm a newbie to the forum and I have a question maybe somebody can help me with. I am looking for somewhere to buy a good keyless entry remote for a cheap price for a 1998 grand prix gt. I have been looking some on E-bay and so far have only found 1 for about 30 bucks, which is more than I want to pay.

Also, I have been looking thru the forum on the instructions for programming a new one and there seems to be some confusion as to which instructions are correct. Does anyone have the true, actual instructions per a service manual for the 1998 gp gt? If so, please email me those and I will much appreciate it!

BTW, drove 910 miles to buy this car. 1998 grand prix gt, silver, with only 55,000 actual miles on it--beautiful car--and got rid of my 99 plymouth neon (ouch!). Big upgrade, eh?

Thanks to all and please forgive me for being a "rookie" in the forum!

Your best bet to buy key fobs is ebay....or you could go to the dealer and spend twice as much...

twice, try three times as much, and then they came out that i'ld have to pay them $100 more to have them program it, takes a total of 2 minutes to do, dealers will rape anybody anyway they can no matter how big or small the job.

Hello, I am an auto dummy! I just purchased a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix SE, without any of the key fobs. The dealer wants about $100 per fob, what should I be expected to pay? I have been reading the board and have not seen where I need to go and purchase. I have looked at e-bay but there is so many out there I don't want to purchase the wrong ones. Do I need and certain code or model number? Then for the programing, some can only be done at the dealerships and some sound pretty complex for me. Any help would be appricated, thanks in advance.

yea i need to know where to buy a new remote too, i looked on ebay and the only ones i see on there for 98's are the ones with a panic buttion, i need one WITHOUT a panic buttion cause my gp doesnt have an alarm so i know that remote wont work. any ideas on some place else to get one where i wont have to pay an arm and a leg? i can read off the number on the back of my old one to give someone an idea on what i need exactly if its any help. thanks!!

(the difference between the 2 is the one i have has no panic buttion, and the ones on ebay do, and i was told those wouldnt work) someone please let me know. thx!

k before i do get another remote, how would i know if it is the remote though??? like when i try reprogramming my rke system, it will go into the programming mode, ill hold down the remote buttions, hear some tones, and then ill go to try it and it still wont work, i know i followed all the programming directions correctly. so thats why i assumed it was the remote, how would i know if its something else and not the remote?? i just want to be tottaly sure its the remote before i get another one.

Check AutoZone i know they sell them just don't know if they program them

Also any good locksmith will have them and can do the programming, but as for programming see if you can purchase the programming docs from ebay for your particular car and save about 30 bucks the locksmith wants to charge...
