Inkjet settings for decal film

I've got a sheet of decal film, as well as some 300dpi artwork.

Thing is, does anyone know what inkjet printer settings I should use? My printer can print at a lower resolution on normal paper, or go finer
with 360 dpi or photo quality paper. However, do I treat decal film as normal paper, or 360dpi inkjet paper?

Using the wrong settings with the wrong paper produces muddy, coarse images, and I'm trying to avoid having to scrap this expensive decal film.

In addition, are there any particular manufacturers of decal film that you'd recommend?

Set your printer as "Glossy Photo Paper"

and be sure to put a lot of Decal Micro film after, or all your work will be destroyed when you will put them in water

Also, ink will take a while to dry.. wait few hours before even tuching it

What do you mean by that? Is it some sort of spray? Where can I buy that? I'm up to the same problem as well. Only I can print at 1200 dpi :naughty:

You need a stuff to protect your decal,

Just imagine putting your decal sheet in water.. All the ink will go off..

Microscale (same brand as Microsol Microset) make some called Liquid Decal Film that work really great.. It can be brushed and is quite cheap (3$ and you are good for 3 or 4 full sheets)
Testor make one in spray can too, never tried it. (Ear too many bad thing about there decal system)

Most decal papers require laser printers...at least from what I have seen.

Some are made for inkjet too

you only need to put extra protection film to protect the ink

When we use the inkjet films, even if we coat the final product, can we use decal solvent to make it lay down after that, or should we just gloss coat the applied decals straightaway?

you can use the decal solvent, but be carefull.. home made decal like that are very fragile !

You can also use Krylon clear coat as a protective spray. Cheap and works great

Yeah you're right, I used flat clear coat (Testors) and it works great.
