What's up with this portion of AF?? I have been posting in pontiac>grand prix mostly and people are happy to talk and discuss things. But here I posted something and the next time I log in its banned! I was trying to tell older and richer people in their ferraris that younger people work my ass off to have a low 13 car and they should be respected. Anyways what's up with banning redneck? Have you heard of freedom of speech??

Huh?!

That post made no sense.

What did I ban? If anything I closed a thread, I haven't banned anybody lately. If you're refering to that thread you started about the 'formula' (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=249852) I didn't close that thread down even though I hadn't a clue what the hell it's point was.

I left it open so you could explain what you were trying to get at with it. Hence my post in that thread.

Please explain to me in a clear manner what the problem is...? Cause as I see it, there isn't any.

Don't worry about it, just post your reply to that thread here....

I'm still not understanding where you were going with that thread so... by all means. Educate me.

Well what I was trying to say is that 1/4 mile time alone doesn't show how much of a racer you are. Your resources and your age should be a factor too. Most people don't respect the rookies and the poor.

You must have been browsing some other forum other than AF, dude, because you have no grounds for what you're saying in these forums. Did you get laughed at, in the Lambo forums or something?

I have a low 15-second, self-proclaimed POS...you don't hear ME whining about respect...

Go take some Midol, look in the mirror, and say: "I will love myself today!"

Cool?

FYI: I didn't lock your other thread either, but I am frankly surprised that RedNeck didn't lock this one. I'll let it breathe for a few, and let RedNeck handle it, as you called HIM out (for NO reason, I might add).

I am not familiar with the issue of your other thread, but I can tell you this:
Have you heard of freedom of speech??
First: That is a United States law, that doesn't mean the rest of the world follows it. (I am not even sure where this board is located).

Second: Freedom of speech does not apply to a privately owned message board. You can say whatever you like on your Web site, not on someone elses.

Read the terms of agreement you "signed" to use this board.

Well not to be a smart ass (Because I am a poor college student) but speed and power and quick times are what respect is about, and speed, power, and quick times is money. A 15 second car just does not excite people. like an 11 sec and faster time brackets. Yea its fun and exciting for you but not for anyone elese. For example.

A farmer has a Blue ribbon 1'st prize state fair winning milk cow. To this farmer, this cow is the number one cow of all the other cows in the state, but to everyone elese it's just a plane jane cow that eats grass and will one day become a big T-bone sizzling on their grill in another year.

Most people have respect for those that have accomplishments.

If your concern is being competitve as a driver and you do not have the funds to be really fast at drag racing, why not try SCCA Solo II autocrossing?

That is all skill. It is easily 75% driver, 20% tire ... and 5% car.
I assure you, you can get a lot of respect there if you do well.

how does the amount of money you have mean anything in regards to your driving ability, honestly?
same for age.
if you're, say, ken gushi, who has been drifting since age 15, and is better than people much older than he is, with more resources, what's the basis?

nothing.

you can't bring a person into a mechanical debate, it doesn't work.

you could have all the money in the world, and still be a retard behind the steering wheel.

sidenote:
if you look real close, you'll see a little link called PM, which you could use to talk to redneck or another moderator directly.

I would have to agree with fly for once, dude if you have a prob with redneck take it in PM cause its unecessary to start a thread about having a prob with someone.....
and as far as 1/4 mile times alone doesnt show how much of a racer you are, I agree with you half way.
theirs just too many factors involved with showing how much of a true racer you are than just 1/4 miles. but age and resources....
what do you mean age? I think you mean experience right... and resources do you mean what you could get your hands on?

put a child that can drive in an Enzo and he will have good 1/4 mile times....what does that prove? Of course an 11 second car will be amazing and will attract people. Maybe in your area people dont respect the unfunded rookie who can drive well...

that formula would make no sense, because im 17 both my cars are going to be running in the 12s if i had the suspension set up for the launch and i dont make an annual salary because i just work for my dad and get parts on discount. In that case wuold be innacurate. Im more into autocross and drift than anything, drag is just a short rush and u can break just as many things as u can in autocross...

respect should come mostly from driving skills. have you every seen the vids of those guys feet move in the japanese car comparos? if you are good enough that someone else will let you drive their car then you have earned my respect. your wheels mean nothing to me. I have seen some realy crappy ferrari drivers.

Oh yeah,

Cars don't mean anything? Sure if you just bought a nice car or paid someone to modify yours, but I've spent 2+ years building my car, even if I was a horrible driver I think I should still get some respect...

My name is Jeff Fazio and I am #10 on this list:

Care to explain to me why I have the least HP of the top 20?
... I am sure it has nothing to do with my driving

is that better?\/?

Why a porsche? That was exactly what my point was... If you buy an expensive performance car or have someone juice up you, who cares? I sure don't. You don't get any respect from me for having a fat wallet. But if you do all your work yourself, do all the research, (and I'm not talking about headers and an intake here.. you gotta be more into it than that.) then you get my 80% of my respect. If you can drive, you get the other 20%. If you buy an expensive car/pay someone, and you are an incredible driver, then you get 75% of my respect. Sorry, but for me, you have to know your shit and be able to do most of it yourself. The more the better.

Hmm... the formula is just numbers put together. It doesn't factor in raw human talent...

But nice idea, too bad (I feel and it seems many others do as well) that it's not accurate.

Anywho... we're done here.
