i just have the stock keyless entry on my 96 civic, but it doesn't work all the time. i will add that i did install an aftermarket cd player which requires the relocation of the stock head unit cause thats where the brain for the keyless entry is. any help would be great

Try checking the connections on that keyless brain. Maybe you goofed up one of the connections when moving the head unit.

When you put a CD player in a 96 Civic with Keyless you have to buy some special harness. Did you do the work yourself? If so I am betting you didnt get the special thing you have to get to retain the keyless.

here's a silly response. I've had a little trouble with my keyless and it turned out that the transmitter's battery was about out of juice. If you've been having probs for a long time then this isn't why, but if it's just been recently try replacing the battery (2 bucks about?). Good luck!

when you recheck your connect double check that you didn't crimp down too hard and cut through the wires. sometimes they might be hanging by the insulation but not really connected. that's one way to explain how it could work sometimes

Also could be where wver you placed the HU doesn't get as good reception.

you can check where the sensor is. check near the rear view make sure nothing is blocking it
