My car has a blow brake light! I tried changing it but could not figure it out. If anyone has tried this then they know how wierd it is. there is no access to the bulb from ANYWHERE in the trunk. SERIOUSLY I pulled out all the plastic covers and the darn buld is like encassed in the light assembly. HOW THE HELL DO YOU CHANGE THE BULB?
p.s. mines is a second gen. (94)
thanx.

well since you're desperate....i had to change one of mine but I had to remove all the plastic panels in the trunk to get to it. that's the way i did it, but there's got to be an easier way....

well yes actually I am desperate. You see, every where I go peope stop me and say "you have a brake light out" and its gotten to the point that if I hear it one more time I will throw rocks at them. I got stopped by a cop for it, I have had a state trooper stop me too and he was gonna give me a ticket so I had to literaly show him how impossible it is. Take it to the dealer he says! I also noticed that there is a piece of the body that can be removed, Its right above each turn signal but when I removed the two screws that hold it down it still would not come off. does it slide out, foward, up WHAT? and I already removed all the plastic, no luck! :banghead:

Damn Musashi3000GT, really wish I could help you out.... At least the trooper didn't give you a ticket. Did you take it to a dealer? Maybe someone on 3si.org will know. Also, try to e-mail some of the 3sxperformance people. No guarantees that they'll help but hey, you never know. Either way, good luck bro.

Yeah it isn't easy but much less involved than you think. You'll be a pro after the firs time.

1) remove the nuts for the reverse lights and also the panel next to it.(There should be a configuration that has three nuts on the ends of three screws.)
2) get out a 10mm socket and remove the one nut that is closest to the side of the car that the tailight needs to be replaced. (i.e. if your right tailight needs a new bulb then remove the screw that is furthest to the right)
3) Behind the other plastic panel there should be one nut on the end of a screw. Remove the nut with the same socket wrench and place the nuts on the side.
4) Just apply pressure to the far end of the tailight where the edge of the car is by pulling outward. (this is at the end of the tailight where it forms a tear drop type shape on the side of the car)
5) the tailight holding should pop out and you can replace the bulb. (bulb size on 94-98 3kgt is 2057 i do believe)
thats it. shoud only take like ten to fifteen minutes...less once you know what your doing

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! Dude you have no idea how much this has been bugging me, some chick at my job told me this morning that the light was out and I was like "yea well thats cause I hardly ever use the fuc*ing brakes" and she was like "jeez man, sorry for giving a crap".

hell yeah sLADe, just like rcheung said. all it took was 3 screws and a 10mm socket. now that that nightmare is over I realized I have no reverse lights! gotta get on that now. easy fix though.
