Info on how to get into the AF IRC chatroom.

Well, this is a start. In time we will make things look a little nicer, and prettier. Here is a basic tutorial on how to download, and install mIRC so that you can connect to the #AFchat IRC chatroom. Here is the link to the tutorial. Any questions, comments, tips, flames, etc. Feel free to post them here.

What server are you on to avoid me having to read that whole tutorial.

All the ones I go to are on undernet which obviously this isnt cause its not there.

We are #AFchat, on the Dalnet server. :)

For those of you who do not want to download mIRC, or cannot because you are at work. We have a web based IRC setup. Go here: http://irc.foo.is/cgi-bin/irc.cgi and put in one of the servers from here: http://www.dal.net/servers/index.php3 Put in your username, and away you go.

Damnit people, we need more people in the mIRC chat, there is hardly ever any one there. I see Jay there from time to time, Jimmy was there earlier, Judge is there sometimes. It would be great if there were gobs of people there all the time.

I think the chatroom is dying.......No-one EVER GOES THERE ANYMORE!!!!!!

I never got there because Im always on undernet (for #nzhondas) not dal so id have to run two copies of MIRC at the same time

I've noticed this, I hope it's not because I was gone. Anyways, I'm back in action after my week long March Break from school, so if you come on I should be there. Hopefully we can get the room back up to the level it was at a month ago.

I would go back but since Dal-net decided to change the way their servers work I can no longer log in. We are on a DSL and a server and Dalnet is requireing something I can not seem to get to work. The send user name or something. I have sent emails, read all the bullshit tutorials, done everything I can think of but still can not log on. I keep getting the auto ban or auto boot.

So until the IRC channel is moved off the Dalnet service I will not be back, sorry guys.

Razor: is it your identd? and yes, dalnet sucks. efnet is the business :)

To bad the last 20 times I've gone to #achat, there has been no one there, and no one came for the entire duration of my stay :(

Since Heep hasnt been looking after the room for a while, its now become closed automatically. :( I will take over this project and attempt to get it going again.

I will be re-registering the room back on dalnet ASAP.

Latest version of mIRC allows you to connect to multiple servers (I'm usually on Austnet myself).

It was empty when I connected though to #AFchat though :(

true dat, I have occasionally been talking with Heep about resurecting it, he says he is too busy at the moment.......So hopefully he can find some time:)

Unfortionatly I dont have the time to help out with the chatroom, and probably wont have much time until after the new yr. :(

I'm on the Dingo Australian Dalnet server in #afchat and it's very much emtpy.

I never knew there was a chat room...

There was before the summer, then I had very limited access to the internet over the summer, so it kinda died :(

If there's enough interest I'll start it back up again...got to have good chats with lots of people who don't post very often but are always in the chat room.

Basic rules:

Don't ask for ops (the IRC equivalent of mods). AF mods get ops, AF members don't. That's just the way it works.

Since it has a far smaller visitor count than the AF site, moderate language will be allowed. No need to go overboard, but it's a little looser environment.

Don't flame people.

Just use common sense and act your age. Remember that you can be banned from the channel just as easily as you can be from here.

Still have that old stats page? :) If it gets busy enough, we can get that going again too. But I doubt it will.
