2.2 Ecotec Engine Oil Capacity?

The owner's manual for my 2004 Cavalier with 2.2L Vin Code F Ecotec Motor gives the motor oil capacity as 3.8 L or 4 quarts (US). However, the Amsoil website gives the capacity as 4.8 L. Yesterday, I did the first oil and filter change and I found that it took about 4.4 liters of oil.

What has been the experience of others on this group with either a new or 2003 model with the 2.2L Vin code F Ecotec?

Thanks for the info. I contacted GM via email and I received a reply confirming that the 2.2 Ecotec takes 4.8L of oil (About 5 US quarts). A double check in my waste revealed that in terms of my larger container of oil, it was actually a 4.4L container rather than a 4L container I normally buy. In other words, I had actually put-in .4L more than I had thought. That explains the difference.

However, I did point out that the gm canada website information and myh owners manual are wrong because they definitely list the engine oil capacity as only 3.8 liters which is equal to 4 US quarts.
