How about posting the vin number????

Are the RPO codes still located somewhere on the car or are they long gone?

Oh I got some info...

10A = date code. 10 = 10th month, A = week.

So the car was made the first week of october.

2nd line... 68 = 1968.
12437 = Coupe body style I think
NOR = Norwood assembly plant.
23577 = body number assigned by Fisher Body for assembly purposes, no other significance.

Dont know what TR is but 714 = Black custom bucket interior.

K2 = KK = Tripoli Turquoise exterior paint.

I dont know where the RPO codes would be on a 1st gen camaro.

The vin number will give you the engine that your camaro came with. If its something like a 6 cylinder than you know for sure its not an SS... SO WHAT IS IT :P

well theres a 327 in it right now and the vin is

124378N323529

The RPO codes for you car are located on the build sheet... The build sheet is probably gone after this many years and as many owners as it's probably had. Usualaly the built sheet is located under the back seat, but it could be on the gas tank, in the front fender, under the carpet... But if the build sheet was there you could tell exactly what your car is. SS RS V8 Inline 6 and all the options it was ordered with, where it was sold...

You can try lookiing for it but good luck.

any ideas here people?

That car was originally a V8 run the Vin. The 3rd Digit is a engine code 3,5 and 7 are all codes that where used for the V6

korndogg

ok so the thrid number is a 4..that means it was a v8 then? well if that is the original engine i heard 327s did not come in SS's so theres no way it could b an ss then.

I don't know which V8 it came with from the factory but it was a V8. While I was looking up your Vin I compared your number to both SS and 327 block Camaro's and both used the 4 digit for the engine code so I think you would need to get the RPO codes somehow to know for sure what you have

FormulaLT1

Just an Idea, I have found build sheets in my drivers side dor panels before, Might want to try there, Also my AC instructor is a walking old school camaro junkie. You could show him a bolt off a camaro and he could tell you what year, color, option package, blah, blah, blah. I will ask him if he has an idea.

I know for thirdgens you can get this restoration package from GM. A ton of guys have gotten them for their cars and I think they include all the RPO codes, even though they are all on a label in the car. Perhaps GM offers the same service for 1st gens??

my girlfriends dad restored a 69 camaro and he said that he found the build sheet under the passenger side carpet in front of the seat.
you might try that, it will tell you what options your car came with.
and what it is too, korndogg, jessica says hello.
