my bird is sick

I had to replace 2 fuel injectors in my 94 bird , it was pouring raw gas out of my mufflers. I replaced the injectors , the gas quit pouring out , I then replaced the spark plugs and changed my oil (it had gas in it) . It is still smoking somewhat , it has a VERY rich gas smell and is runnibg very rough. I get hardly any power up a hill , and my gas mileage has went in the toilet. anyone have any ideas . I am :banghead:

i had same problem on my 1994, and idiot mechanics hydro-locked my engine ($1.5K for used w/60K mi) problem was injector driver module located in passengers side dashboard/kickpanel. try not to drive until you get it fixed, otherwise big bux 4 repair if you get too much fuel in cylinders. since liquids don't compress like gasses do, it will bend a rod, pop a piston, etc. been there, done that. good luck!!
p.s. i ended up re-installing my 4.6 after they screwed up the engine install too. the ford garage that did it forgot to hook up a/c wires, wiper motor, left bolts and nuts on the valley pan. a buddy and i went thru it and fixed what the "mechanics" hosed up

Just a couple thoughts. If you were pouring gas out the pipes then you probably soaked the honeycomb in the cats and that is where your smell is coming from. Also, raw gas will screw up your O2 sensors and this will cause the CEL.

Yes, that's true. I got lucky on mine and didn't have any cat. conv. problems. I did replace the O2 sensors when I went thru the engine after the "mechanics" made a mess of things. I just prefer to err on the side of caution when dealing with fuel systems like this because of the damage ($$$$) that can be caused due to one simple mistake. In this case, I'd be betting on the computer causing a malfunction, too.
