This car belongs to a friend of mine, and I decided to do a drawing for him as a graduation gift. I decided to use a grid for this one because on the last drawing I did, the proportions were all messed up  . This is definetely my best drawing yet, but unfortunately I have to give it up. The wheels arent going to be drawin in for a while because my friend is going to be ordering new ones. Ill just put those in later whenever they come in. Here are some pictures of the progress...

ok, well the grill should stretch all the way to the left edge of the bumper...there should be like a very small gap between the end of the car and the grill.you have it too far out...that part of the grill should also be parallel to the end of the car(end of the kid)...yours slopes too much and i think thats whats making the from kit look off...
the wing also shouldn't have as much of a slope i think..
also, the hood line indent thing on the hood that stretches down to the bumper is off
it funny though, because in the very first pic you drew, the rough sketch one...the hood indent is correct and so is the left side of the grill in the bumper and then you changed it to be incorrect.
thats alll i see...it may be unclear because i cant really explain some of the things properly, maybe someone else might be able to help you

haha... the car really isnt authentic JDM. We live in the U.S. and the car (mechanically) is U.S. Spec RSX-S. He's rebadged the whole car, and installed a Mugen Kit. The new Mugen replica wheels will be in sometime soon, and he may have a catback system coming in too. :iceslolan . Lotsa goodies.

Ive been browsing through this board and ive noticed SecretModeler has had nothing nice to say to anybody. Ever. Its always...yeah...your drawing looks okay execpt it the front sucks and I hate your shading blah blah, or I used to draw like that when I was little
Btw I think your car looks great.
i don't have anything nice to say, either: the wing is too short - (and ugly, by the way)--needs more height.
the sunroof is way off especially on the passenger's side.
the mirror is drawn as if it is pulled into the window.
the rear portion of the sideskirt is too low, as well, needs more height and shape. presently, it cannot be made out as a prominent, rectangular section. it is also too short, which brings up:
the distance from the door seam to the rear fender well is drawn too short, thus making the entire rear of the car too short (see the rear side window --it is too short).
angle of driver's door top/roofline profile arc is incorrect: it is drawn as a down-angle sloping towards the a-pillar, whereas on the ref picture the top of the door/roofline is a gentle arc that makes a sort of rounded movement on top that slopes backwards towards the rear of the car.
reflections lack contrast so they look like design elements on the car instead of bounced light.
pale outlines of wheels so far are absolutely incorrect elipses.

Quit your bitching. I thought Chad (bonzelite) was a negative son of a bitch when I first saw him posting, but hes actually an excellent artist with a keen eye. Not to mention years of practice under his belt. Its constructive criticism, sometimes a member may push it, but use it for fuel to draw better.

Alright, alright. Lets get back to the purpose of this thread.
Ghost, if you want to call someone out, don't. Talk to them about it in PM. This is not the place.
Everyone slowly count to 10, and lets get back on topic.
Oh, and would it be alright if I put this in the Tutorials section?

ok, so. you think it is better to say something looks good when it doesn't
Don't you think his friend will be much happier with a drawing that looks really good instead of satisfactory?
i learned from chad :)
i realized that telling people every single little wrong thing with their drawing helps them out
wen i posted my first drawing, the horrible proportioned skyline...chad told me it blew...and its totally incorrect...at first i was mad, so i thought i'd draw something better and show him...
so i drew the jdm teg...he still put it down...but i was less mad cuz i realized that the teg was much better then the skyline...the more he posted, the more i learned, now i pay attention to every detail so i may make the best drawing possible (except for the hands on mandy moore lol)
but i learned better after he told me all the things that were wrong...
theres some history for you guys...
ANYWAYS
if we wouldn't tell him or others every wrong thing about their drawing, they may never learn...and they'll be living in a world where they think their drawing rock, when they dont.
then one day, someone will say it really sucks, and it'll be a blow to them
SO if they learn that their drawings blow now,early...then they can improve and wont be put into a situation where someone tells them their drawing sucks after everyone else lied to him and told him they were perfect.
whew
edit** i posted after mike and kustmace without knowing they posted...you know, while i was typing they posted
:)
btw
it is good, im not saying it's bad, im just saying it needs work
Don't you think his friend will be much happier with a drawing that looks really good instead of satisfactory?

I tried to fix as much of it as possible (w/o having to start over), according to bonzelite, and secretmodder's guidelines. I didnt fix the problem w/ the rear being too short, as i would have to erase most of my drawing to fix it. I tried to fix the wing, sideskirts, mirrors, and top of driver door to the best of my abilities. The wheels had bad ellipses because the lines werent for the wheels. It was the tire, and its shadow, so they looked kind of off. Its still probably not up to some of your standards, but its the best i can do for now, and I learned a lot from it.
Thanx to everyone for the comments, compliments, and advice, they were all very helpful.
As for the Tutorial, sure, but i dont know what the tutorial would be for.

it is much better now. just add the wheels. the drawing is heaps better than what it was.
you don't need to be exactly mimiking the photo for a great presentation. you have done a lot, and you are commended for it. the flaws in it now are hidden enough and actually work within the universe of that specific drawing. i would not go back anymore and change anything. there comes a point where certain things are the way they are, and it doesn't matter anymore. the idea is to create an overall impression.
i pointed out what i did so that you can open your eyes to these seemingly elusive nuances that add up to create a convincing and strong illustration. in time, awareness of these things will become instantaneous.
you have many more drawings yet to do, so move on and start fresh. today, you have a lot more knowledge at your disposal. it will only enhance your talent.

desi, i want to add that your drawing looks great. i do not want to have you thinking that you did bad work. you did great work. i want to help you make it kick a$$. cars are very unforgiving things to draw, especially if you attempt to do photorealism. so you are again applauded for venturing into this deep water.

Hey Desi,
Follow up with Bonz on that tire tip. He won't steer you wrong.
The car is nice. Bonz is correct. Sometimes in our individual pursuits for perfection we over-work a piece. I don't think that is the case here, but you're on the fence. Jump into the tires man.
When inking, or building a flash application, or whatever it is. I always do the hardest part first. I'm fresh and eager after I tackle the hard stuff everything else is cake. I can cruise to the finish...enjoying the view...smiling at my inner peace....learning to love again....eating sardines in mustard sauce and waving at the......huh?.. oh ....anyway do the tires.

I am glad Bonz, Lemorris, SeCrEtMoDdEr, and others are honest.

Mugen Power (insert Japanese symbols)...
It's called Kanji =P I believe the closest English translation for Mugen is "Limitless" or "Infinite." Personally, I despise Kanji compared to Hiragana or Katakana, but it certainly saves space.
For the headlights, just try to copy them as closely as possible. I'll post a picture of my new S15 drawing that I've done, and the headlights actually turned out pretty well. I guess you just have to have confidence that if you copy them, they'll turn out to look realistic. I'm refering to the reflectors in particular... I never thought that it'd be possible to draw realistic looking reflectors, but asaenz showed that it's actually not that difficult.
