Parts for cars...?

As you can probably guess i am a ford guy, but a family member of mine owns a 1994 3k gt (non-turbo), and is always complaining about the difficulty encountered when trying to get parts (new or used) for the mechanical aspect of his car I.E. drivetrain, engine, ect.... My question is, is it this difficult to find parts? And if it is, where do you guys get your stuff?
