Suspension opinions

Whats up, I'm new to the forum I was wondering what suspension setup would be the best for my car (2000 Civic EX)... Looking for a smooth ride with a 1-2.5 inch drop.

I'm not really looking for coilovers. I've been mainly thinking about either. Eibach or H&R springs and Tokico Illuminas or AGX shocks..

thanks in advance

Welcome to AF!

I highly recommend H&R's & go with the best strut you can afford. Koni yellow(sport), Illuminas, AGX

Thanks for the response, still looking for more.
I've seen the Illuminas on ebay for like 365 by jdmwerks13, and on nolimit for $109.00 (rear) $112.00 (front) = :). Koni's I'm having a more difficult time finding prices on. If somone knows a decent site, it'd be appreciated.

I'd also know what sway/strut bars would help in minimizing body roll and making my car a smoother ride.

I've seen the Tein Basic coilover set from $650-$750. Spend the money and do it right. It's great being able to adjust the ride height where you like it.

I have the Tein SS for $900 ish with dampening adjustments. Very nice when cruising down the highway with the dampening softened up. No bounce and a firm yet plush ride on 205/40/17 tires with a 2" drop. I bet it would be a Cadillac ride on stock size wheels.

I'd also know what sway/strut bars would help in minimizing body roll and making my car a smoother ride.

Only sway bars control body roll, strut bars stiffen the chassis.

You could always use ITR sways or any aftermarket(ST, Neuspeed, Eibach, ADDCO, etc.) For strut bars stick to solid mount not hinged type bars(neuspeed), don't do the Ebay special 2 upper strut bars & 2 lower ties for $50.00 or whatever it is. That junk almost serves no purpose what so ever. On a FWD car it's best to have a slightly larger rear sway, opposite of how it comes to the dealer. Most FWD cars have a large front & no or very small rear sway because understeer is considered "safer" to the general public. If your into racing, autoX, well handling car you'll know that "safe" means slow.

I'd rather spend a few extra $$$ to know exactly what I'm getting backed by outstanding customer service if an issues arises
TIRE RACK.

No offense CivicEXRider but I'd rather have adjustable dampening over adjustable ride height ANY DAY. If anyone sets up their coilover system they know what a pain in the ass it is to do it correctly. And each time the ride height is changed you gotta do all over again, although 80% of the people don't bother.

Thanks for all the insight Jack, so upper front and rear strut bars are good and sway bars are good but the lower tie bars don't do much? Any sites you know of that have ITR sway bars for sale?

edit:
I also would like to know if I should go with the Sport or Race, H&R springs.. thanks

Upper strut bars do more than lower tiebars, but swaybars do more than ALL strut/tie bars combined. The only real tiebars that do much, is something like the H-brace I recent;y put on my Civic. Attaches at the typical front tiebar mounting points, but has a cross brace that extends back to attach further back under the chassis. A VERY solid bar, and very inexpensive as well, at only $65!

Yea what SilverY2K said. Lower tie w/ rear sway upgrade is a good idea.

H&R sports are better for a daily driver.
