i have a DX accord, so it doesnt have rear speakers
can i buy rear speaker pods from a similar accord, then install them in the back custom? how exactly should i do this...im not all that good at working on cars.

WHy not just mount the speakers in the back using the grilles that came with it, and bolt it down from the top? I'm not too familiar with your year of car, but it seems practical. Otherwise, try looking in the junkyards for the speaker mounts....

on ex and lx accords, the speakers are right behind the back seat, and they seem to be mounted below the surface
on the DX, the whole area behind the back seat is one flat panel, with no cutouts for speakers
below the back panel is the trunk
i guess i could just mount the speakers back there on top of the panel but id rahter get them like the LX

I would think it very possible. Just cut out openings, mount them there, and do the wiring. I have a 90 ex that I am parting out. Last time I checked the speakers worked fine, so if you are interested let me know. But IMO, it might be more worthwhile to get good aftermarket speakers instead and just mount them the same way.

You can use the speaker pods from an LX or EX (LX if you want 6.5", EX if you want 6x9"). The speaker holes are already in the sheet metal underneath the rear shelf, you'll just need to cut holes in the shelf itself, which is just cardboard covered with carpet. A sharp box cutter works pretty well. The speakers are screwed into the pods and then the pods are lowered into the holes from inside the car. You bolt down the pods themselves from inside the trunk.
Try eBay for the pods. I wanted to put 6x9" in my LX, but the factory pods are 6.5". I lucked out and found a new-in-the-box set of 6x9 pods in the right color for $11. That was kind of a rare find, but it seems like someone is always selling a set of used pods on there and you can probably get them cheap.

Oh, I didn't know hte 'pods' and the actual speakers were different parts. Well if you want my pods from a 90 ex, just send me a pm.
