Well guys, ive had my system in for a few months and and im tired of looking at this baulky ugly box. So i made up a design for my hatch to put my system. Tell me what you guys think, i have yet to see a EF with any design like this.

There is a pic of what i want to do. The bottom is going to be diamond plate and the woofers are going to raised off of it by about 1/2 inch by a custom ring im building for them. I plan to start this Thursday, ill make sure to show you guys plenty of pics.

This is most likely something you like or you dont like so all comments are welcomed.

If thats the kind of stuff your into I guess its cool. I'm not all about hauling 150 pounds of crap in my trunk. Hell my car only has 2 6/12 speakers.

umm, exactly how big is this ring gonna be? because i have learned from past experience, a box isnt a box, u need correct specs for those subs or u'll either blow them, or it will sound like complete ass! thats prolly the reason behind that big ass box, hell, i have 2 sony explode 12s in my car that sound awesome, but the box is HUGE

I dont know thats the thing, im gonna check and make sure everything is good, i dont see why this set up would make it sound bad.

well my buddy explained it to me when we were doing my boxes, each sub is designed differently, they all need a different amount of airspace to allow them to move right and sound good, too little airspace and they risk blowing up, too much and not enough thump, pretty much the way he explained it to me, yes there are different factors and such
ne who, what u should try doing it getting the specs for those subs (how many cubic feet) then make a box in the spare tire well, cut the diamond plate over top and have 2 cylinders connected to the box in the spare well, it will give u more airspace then u were going to have and it might look pretty cool as well because they tubes wont be up as high as they would have been, but i dont know how it will sound because of the weird shape of the box, and remember when building it... silicone is ur friend! :) when me and my buddy do boxes we use like 2 tubes of silicone or more :) make sure it will never leak :)

Nah thats not true. It wont sound like ass if he makes his own custom box. They dont need to be perfect. This kid down the street gets his 05' NEw Blazer in a week or two, and he is paying me $300 to fiberglass him three 12's. $300 + $ for supplies, kinda cheap but oh well

i dont think it matters what shape the box is, just how many cubic feet there are, i know i've made small boxes and they sounded like crap, made a biger box and it sounded 10x better, its all about air space, you need the right amount and i'm sure some of the other people on here will back me up with that as well. i have blown subs before going from a big box to a smaller box so I can save space and to me its not worth it.

But Subs are subs dude. Its just the Bass your lookin at. I mean you cant do something crazy ass small but it really doesnt matter, i've installed over a dozen custom fiberglass boxed systems, and it really wasnt different for me.

its just things i've learned in the past, i've built quite a few boxes as well and i know that the sound quality sux with smaller boxes, and u have subs because u want bass, if theres no bass, whats the point of the subs? just a big paperweight, i need correct specs for it to sound right, thats why if u go on any website for a certain sub it will show how many cubic feet the sub needs to have peak performance, when ur building all these fiberglass enclosures have u been using the exact same subs all along or different ones? if there all different then thats why u didnt notice any difference

just my :2cents:

i see where your comin from man, but like shadder said its just a sub. either way the sub is going to put out some bass. it may not sound as good as the box but tis nto goign to make much of a difference to me, i dont turn it up to where people 4 blocks down can hear.but yeah i understand what your saying man, this is my first custom install so nay advice or comments is welcomed
