Hi, newbie here...Ive got and have had a Radio Shack Mercedes CLK DTM 2000 RC car for a while. I realize that it is not a great RC car and all that stuff, and no, Im not that into the hobby to gett a better one (I modded my real car for a while and it was just too expensive).
Anyway, the car is tons of fun after its rained and the pavement is wet...it can do donuts and power slides pretty well. I'd like, however, to make it a little faster and have a little more torque. I don't know if a new motor or a new gear would be enough. It runs on a 9.6v battery and the one I have is only 1000mAh so it wont run at full power for more than 15 or so minutes.
Thanks in advance!
Adam

I have never heard of anybody modifying a mass produced RC from RadioShack (besides those Xmod things). Im sure its plauseable with time, money, inginuity, and intellegence.
(I modded my real car for a while and it was just too expensive).
Welcome to the real world. Things are expensive.

I hear that. I decided to give up with my car because I learned that the more you mod your car, the more you regret it (if it is a daily driver). So now Im concentrating on music, which preceded car modding...Im saving up right now for a new guitar which is going ot cost me $1500. Things are expensive, and Im still in school!

I am still in school as well. I have expensive hobbies too. Car modeling isnt cheap. Metal fabrication isnt cheap. Automotive painting isnt cheap. Hot rod modification/design/fabrication isnt cheap. (I also play the guitar, which isnt cheap...I need a new setup, but tools come first.)
I do all those things, I go through money faster than the government.
