Car shudders

I'm having a problem with my 1997 civic EX
It has a manual transmission, and i've noticed that sometimes, when I'm shifting gears, especially from first to second, and second to third, it shudders... it's weird... Like, it doesn't feel like the car is accelerating very well at all, and it shudders and shakes, I have no idea what's causing it. If anyone could fill me in on what might be happening, that'd be great

sound like your clutch might be slipping. how old is it?

A worn clutch will not make a car shudder and shake. ITLN does it sound like the engine is studdering? Or is the engine revving fine but the power isn't getting to the ground?
If it's studdering like the engine isn't working right, the cheapest fix-its would be to check your spark plugs and wires for breaks in them. I'd also suggest buying/borrowing a compression tester to see if your piston rings or head gasket are blown.
If the car were to shake at very low rpm's (2000 or less) when you try hitting the gas, that's pretty normal.. MAY need a new clutch..

ITLN, hasnt replied since he started the thread and i think he is talking about the same problem I am having. Its not a shuddering so much as a hesitation in acceleration and occurs at lower RPM's

I don't think it's the clutch. It shudders when I shift at lower RPM's, so maybe im just getting in to gear weird sometimes, because it doesn't shutter ALL the time
