I'd have to agree, but what year?? i myself find the e30 to be delightful, with a few mods (springs, swaybars, chip, exhaust, intake) even more delightful. It is a tad underpowered, but it makes a sweet track car because of its light weight.

Im also very fond of the the M-coupe. just the combination of the interesting look of the car backed up by the gobs of horsepower it has, i just love it!

M1... no doubt about it.... without it none of the other M-series would have been possible.

My favourite BMW is the latest 3 Series Convertible! I know someone who has a blue 323Ci with seat-integrated seatbelt system, full bodykit, rear wing, 20" chromed alloys, 10 cd, dvd, massive subwoofer in the trunk and in car TV/NAV.

you said it. E30 M3... beautiful car. my cuz had one, let me drive it a couple of times... man i loved that car
i like the E36 M3 too, but not as much.. the E46 M3 i also like, but not as much as the E36 in terms of looks, its not sleek enough, too bulgy...
end of the day, id settle with either of the 3 but a mint E30 M3 Evo would be most welcome out of all of them...
cheers

I like the E39 540i best of all. I love the styling--serious and perceptive from the front, flowing and elegant from the side, and sporty from the back--and think it is perhaps the most beautiful car on the road. I believe Car and Driver once described it as looking like a 'single, crystalline thought, not a collection of desperate good ideas'. I like the fact that the 540i is smaller and more sporting than the 7-Series but includes most of its luxury amenities. Overall, I think this car exudes confidence, performance and class and stands as one of the safest and most technologically-advanced cars available. I love the M5 too, but feel the 540 blends luxury and performance more seamlessly than any other car. It's my dream to one day own an E39 5-Series, especially a 540i.

That was a beautifully eloquont statement about the 540. I have to agree with 328isRob, the M1 is the definitive BMW for performance.

I do have to say that is a car that blends performance and luxury better than the 5, and that is the TVR Cerbera. The Speed 6 Cerbera is the most comfortable, then the 4.2, which makes an excellent tourer. The 4.5 is capable of mind blowing performance, with 18" wheels and a LSD as standard equipment, while still remaining civil in traffic, and comfortable for long trips.

The BMW is a bit more comfortable though :D

Why is it I can never manage to post an image? Could somebody please inform me why?

to post an image you have to put the link to the pic between the IMG tags, not the link to the page with the pic on it... this may be what youre doing, im not sure... so when you find your pic on a webpage, right-click, properties, copy the link of the image (and not the page) and put it between the IMG things...

so for your pic:

i have to disagree with tvr's being comfortable though :D too noisy for long drives, very different cars to the 5

cheers,
jay

I've never heard of the tvr, so take anything I am about to say lightly since I don't know anything about it! It's a very nice-looking car. I obviously can't say anything about the comfort or performance since I've never driven one or even seen one. I'm sure it's very very fast as you say.

I still like the 5 much better. The styling, performance, and functionality/comfort come together to create a car that is at once purposeful and dignified. Those are qualities I really like. And thanks for the complement.

By the way, if anyone who currently owns an E39 5 would like to give it to me, I could readily provide you with an address for shipment. I'll even give you my '86 E28 in exchange!:D

I would have to say the M5 is the best BMW built if you drive stick and the 4.6i X5 is the best for an automatic. I know the new 7 series is packed with tons of goodies but with so much new, bleeding edge technology I wonder how long it will last. The last thing we would need is to have BMW stop production on the I-Drive and when people start buying used ones a few years down the road it is too costly to maintain if it breaks. Once my college loans are paid off I want an M5...its fast, quick, has a smooth ride, and can carry the kids to school!

The Best BMW? That's the one that you own of course, so that means that my favorite is a 1973 BMW Bavaria with an M30 out of an '84 735. A lot of people don't know about the Bavaria, or the E3 model at all, but they rock!

the best BMW would have to be the one you own. I don't care if someone else has an M3. As long is i have my 325 ill be happy. Other than that i would deffinatly say the M3 is a tight car. I would rather have an M3 but i would be happy with any BMW. smoker: :smoker: :smoker: :smoka: :smoka: :smoka:

I am a big BMW-fan, but it’s hardly possible for me to commit on only one BMW.
There are dozens of models, from past and present time, which are great cars. So to make the decision easier for me, I differ between rather old and current models.

For me one of the most beautiful BMW from past models is the BMW E9 CS!
It’s a Coupe and was built from 1968-1975. The models ranged from the BMW 2,5 CS (engine: 2,5L, 170 hp) to the BMW 3,0 CSL (engine: 3,2L, 215 hp).
I stared at a BMW 2800 CS (engine: 2,8L, 170 hp) as I first saw a pic on the internet!
I instantly fall in love with the silhouette of this car! I mean the design is still great, even though the car was designed 40 years ago!

But now I will finish falling in love with cars of the past: my today's BMW-supercar is very different to the one above. Now I will prefer a BMW E65. No matter what engine, because I am sure Bthe design is just extraordinary! There is no other luxury car that fascinates me that much! The huge BMW-kidneys – WOW! This brawny car with its special roof characteristic, which is in the end like a Coupe – GREAT! Thanks to Mr. Chris Bangle, he is probably one of the best – and for sure most courageous – designers in car industry.

Clemens, that's a Sweet E9. Unfortunately, I've had to part with my Bavaria, but I still have a pic of what it looked like. I loved that car, and I am gonna get another one in the future. This one's not mine, but looks a lot like it. Mine's missing the ugly bumper, and had a few other mods, but this is a pretty good idea.

You are right the E30 M3 many me included agree is the best BME to ever wear the BMW emblem.

but then again its like chosing the best of the best with BMWs..but if you span the whole era the E30 M3 is still number 1.
