My check engine light has been on for a couple years...I finally tested it and came up with codes 176/189....which would indicate lean fuel and/OR a problem in the throttle position sensor.
It is the 3.0L V6, 4x4. Someone suggested it is my fuel pump . I am wondering if it may be the MAF sensor...or the throttle sensor?
After an hour or two of really running it hard (usually in the warmer weather) it starts to either cut out or surge. It has only done it three times in the last year. This weekend I was towing a small bike trailer...over a pass...at about 3,000 RPM. It didnt miss a beat all the way up the hill. About 15 minutes later it did its thing....any suggestions??
Help :)

First off, you own a GREAT truck and a GREAT motor, but you need to clean youre MAF. It may not be the problem, but its better to try that before you replace a cat.

Funny you should mention the MAF :) I had the MAF cleaned a couple weeks ago and it runs much better! I took it on the same road trip I had trouble with it on...and no problems at all. I LOVE my Ranger....it is unstoppable. Thanks for the advice.
