Year differences

Was there ever a 300zx that had a single turbo setup, stock of course. Also does anyone on the fourm have a picture of the engine bay for their older 300zx, like an 86-90.

The Z31 (1984-1989...see my 86T in my sig) has a single turbo set up. It's one of the simplest turbo setups possible. For a pic of the engine, check out the "Modifications" section of www.z31.com. I know there's a couple pics of the engine bay in the "intake" section of it.

the z31 had a single turbo setup and the z32 ('90-'96) had a twin turbo setup. i have seen a convertible n/a z32 be converted into a single turbo. there are probably a couple others, but stock, yes for z31 and no for z32.

Thanks for the replies, I bought a turbo "supposedly" from a 300zx and to me, it looks way to small to be on a car that size,I was hoping I could figure out something about it, but everywhere I go... Noone knows. Its from the 300zx that has the single turbo setup, From an 86-87.
I haven't had a lot of turbo experiance, so I just looked at the outlet of the exhaust housing and made a few measurements. I added the areas of the wategate and the turbine, they come out to be less than that of a 2in pipe, does this sound right to any of you? They are 42mm and ~25mm (Its not round).
I know everyone runs 2.5 and 3 in exhausts and it just isn't clicking with me.

Post the first 6 digits of your VIN and I can tell you right now if your car actually is a turbo or if it's a make shift job.

Lol, I WISH I had a 300zx, I just bought the turbo from one, sorry.
