tbird weigh's 3600+lbs. 205hp/265ftlb torque@3200rpm, automatic 4 speed. RWD 4.6L V8..

maxima se weigh's 3200lbs aprox. 220hp/222ftlb torque@4000rpm, automatic 5 speed. FWD 3.0L V6..

1/4 mile drag...

I think this would be a good close race, but at the towards the end of the 1/4, maxima would get the go by easily.

PS.. Don't even compare the two for highway speed racing, like over 100mph, cause my tbird cuts off at 103mph.

just by power:weight, the maxima would take it.

t bird: 17.56lbs. per 1 hp.
maxima: 14.54lbs per 1 hp.

consider this:
1989 prelude si (stock) is roughly 19lbs. per 1hp. and runs high 16's
1999 prelude (stock) is roughly 16lbs. per 1hp. and runs low to mid 15's

yeah, I think the weight of the t-bird is gonna do it in. Maybe off the line it will jump on the max because of rwd but it's too fat and will get walked.

2k2 maxima's are 3.5 liter v6's and make 255 hp.
the 2k-2k1's are 3.0's@222hp. and the only maxima's available in 5 speed auto are the 2k4's+. otherwise it's a 4 speed.
i think the maxima would take it either way, but if it is a 2k2, then i'm sure the maxima would win.
