I was walking to get mail and on way back up the driveway i saw the two holes in the nose of it.....and thought....would it be possible the put a mesh grille there instead of black plastic, and somehow add aomething to suck air in from there??? If possible how much added hp do you think i would get?

with that engine, isnt the air-box in the drivers side front corner? if so, it would take some crazy piping to get the air to it, might not be worth it. but it would help to keep the engine cool, especially if you found away to have nice big cowl vent by the windshield

Well to answer your question yes. I am a 17 year old and I have no money. I wanted ram air intake so i did it.
1: Took off the bumper
2: Make a fiberglass mold
3: Molded it to this picture

4: put regular housing filtration in it.
5:took out the ugly stock elbow and everything and connected it into my throttle body.
6: Relocated my IAT Sensor
:-) Works great and costs like $40.00

Yeah, so I had that idea a while back...and after looking in to it...its just a lot more of a hassle than it is worth, IMO. You have to take off the outer bumper cover and remove the actual bumper support (which would allow your front end to collapse in a 10 mph fender bender and destroy your headlights, etc.) and possibly cut through some of the metal in that area.
What I did on my 96 firebird was remove the stock airbox, and put piping in its place. If you like it ghetto, like I do...you can use dryer hose and put a cone air filter on the end. I ran it down into the nose of the car (behind the driver's turn signal) and there is a lot more available air there. It made a pretty noticable differance.

Theres more description on my website.
Ok, now that I said all that, I guess you MIGHT be able to hook some hosing up to the driver's side "nostril"....I tried this, but the whole is so oddly shaped and positioned that A: the hosing was pinched off by the bumper support and B: no hosing I tried could stay on the watermelon shape of the nostril.
