levin owner needs help

Can anybody tell me about any distinguishing marks on the 4a-gze transmission from the 4a-ge? It's for a AE101 and if anybody knows what kind of cv joints i have to put on it as well (for the gze). I've been told that I need special ordered cv joints for this transmission and that I can't just swap on the 4a-ge joints. I ain't got a clue and as many levins as there are here in okinawa, I can't seem to find anyone all that knowledgeable on the subject.
