Insurance question

Hey guys. I just had a fast, and probably simple question for you all. It seems to be popular to drop a V-8 (lt1/ls1) in newer camaros that came as 6 cylinders, because of the insurance being cheaper with the vin of the car being as a 6 cylinder. My question is what if you get in a wreck? Does the insurance company cover the cost of the new v-8 motor that was dropped in, or will they only cover upto what the 6 cylinder would have been worth. I know this is worded odd, but I think you can see what im saying. Thanks
Rob

yea i think they will only cover the cost of the v6, since you didnt report to them that you had swapped it out.. but i think if you were to get into a serious accident where there was enough damage to damage the motor they would probably total the car.....

two words: insurance fraud
im sure you could claim that the car came like that and you didnt know, and they would probably only pay the v-6 price (if anything at all), and they would prolly drop you from coverage, and its possible that you could go to jail. its really not a big deal i dont think but what they dont know wont hurt em right? point is insurance companies dont like losing money, so if you screw them they will find a way to screw you. my company(state farm) requires me to bring the car to the agent so he can look at it and confirm all sorts of things like prior damage and the type of car and stuff. ofcourse, i never said that any of this stuff was gonna stop me...
