Can You Take The Badges Or Emblems Off The Back Of A Passat Without Hurting The Paint If Yes How.

First of all.. I don't recomend people without a grat deal of autobody experience try this.... but.... They sell a variety of embem removal tools from most auto paint suppliers and a few tool companies ..ie.. MAC Tool, Strap-on, ect. Most are like a plastic chisel (Aprox $20) that "chisels" or scrapes the emblem off and are very effective. after the emblem if off, adhesive is almost ALWAYS left behind. 3M makes an "eraser wheel" ($13) that you can use in your drill to rub off the residue. I don't know if your cars embems are held on solely by adhesive or if they have the little posts through the body, but I'd find out before attempting this. Good luck:)

I would only take the badge off if you are planning on putting another kind in its place, or are shaving the area to be smooth. The area it sits in is egressed.

Okay for the PASSAT badge, all you need to do is heat the badge up a bit with a hair dryer - be careful not to leave the heat on too long - and then slip a piece of dental floss in underneath each letter and slide it back and forth effectively cutting the letter away. Once you have all of the letters off, there will be a small amount of adhesive left. You can remove this with Goof-off or other similar product. Once you have all of the adhesive off, wash the car thoroughly and wax with good quality wax. This is exactly how I did mine and this is the result:

I did a really good detailing on the car afterward and it left no ghosting etc.

If you want to remove the VW badge from the center, I would recommend leaving it to a good body shop because they are going to have to fill in the recess that's left after the badge is removed anyway.
