alrights i just bought my 88 convertible,164,000 miles on it...the engine is fine, sounds fine..like i told you from my old post my homeboy said the clutch blew out..i just want ideas from other rx7 owners about the problem..it moves in and out of gears just fine, the clutch pedal can be pressed and depressed just fine, but when he tries to drive it, it doesnt go any where. I might sound repetitive from my old post, but i got a chance to see it today in this condition..so what you guys think is the problem. Clutch? or Tranny?..thanks for the help and info

it will still shift into gear if the clutch is out, but it will just rev like if it worked fine and you gave it a bunch of gas and only let the clutch out a little... it slips and the rpms go way up cuz it can't catch. so if it runs good but just revs in gear then the clutch is out... sounds like you got yourself a nice deal my friend

Good buy !! tell you that but yeah is the clutch . cuz if you have it in gear and car going nowhere is the clutch buddy. remplacing it is easy too.

Its the clutch... Buy a centerforce and if you're going to change the clutch, you may as well buy a lightweight flywheel.

yea I have a centerforce stage 1... it will slip like non other untill the car warms up a little, even driving very conservatively mine tends to slip a little

but they are probably the cheapest ones I have seen and it seems to handle quick take offs just fine
