I am planning on doing a F20B swap into my 1990 accord. I know it is possible, but since it is a rare swap i was wondering if anyone knows anything about this swap? How hard it is? What you need exactly? Last thing, what do you think is better F20B or jdm H22?

Why would you want to spend an extra $1000 on an engine that was made in 90-93 that has .2 liters less then an h22? That engine was made in the Accord SiR. Yes they are rare to find, but I never understood the point of choosing one over a H22!?!? Hell.... get an H22 and paint the valve cover blue!!! :naughty: I am personally going with the H22 myself.

I chose the f20b over the h22 because the f20 is lighter, less displacement, and just as quick. PLus no one has this engine. I could bore it out a bit and make it a 2.2 but it doesnt matter. I think the F20 has a higher compression ratio(11:1) than the h22 so it is better for an all motor car, because i wont be putting on a turbo for awhile.

BTW the engine isnt $1000 more, its a $1000 less. I am getting everything(motor, tranny, ecu, linkage, A/C, Power Steering, Solenoid, Wiring Harness) for $2000 dollars. The h22 i have seen around are for about 2500-3000 cheapest. So i think the f20 is better.

Well that's a different story! WHen I say that the engines are $1000 more.... they are typically! Unless you got a great deal. F20b engines usually go for about $3,000. Just for example at this site here is the F20b atTotal Jdm (http://www.totaljdm.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/engines.displayengine/item_num/JDMHONDAF20B/jdm_engines.htm) and here is the H22 (http://www.totaljdm.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/engines.displayengine/item_num/JDMHONDAH22AG1/jdm_engines.htm) at the same site. Here's another site (http://www.makeitfast.com/default.php/cPath/1417?osCsid=6fa881801ff49b0210bbb2c98c322846) almost a thousand dollars more. And yet another site (http://www.streetimports.com/prices.htm) a thousand dollars more. Now don't get me wrong.. I'm not saying that it's impossible to find a F20b for $2k.. like here (http://www.japandomesticmotor.com/honda.asp) I was just saying that typically they are more and I would be a little hesitant to buy from someone that has the same price. As far as them being lighter I didn't realize that. But if someone sold me a F20b for the same price and it was up to par... hell ya I'd put it in mine too! Good luck with the swap..

I went to the shop that is getting me the engine and they said they can get the motor and all for under $2000. About the displacement difference, .2l isnt going to make a noticeable difference especially on a 4 cyl. Don't get me wrong, you will get a little bit more troque out of it (10 ft lbs.) but youre also getting the same amount of horsepower. The f20b is lighter, and shows a flaw in the h22. If you do a swap with the h22, you would definitely need to upgrade your suspension. One major problem with the f20b though, is there arent many products on the market for it. But i think because its a f series motor, the bottom end is the same along with the intake manifold and exhaust manifold etc. My main reason for doing the swap, Its the cheapest and no one has it. Some sites that have the motor cheap are here (http://www.japandomesticmotor.com/viewengin.asp?id=21) here (http://www.jdmsource.ca/honda/f20b.html) here (http://www.jspecimports.com/f20b.html) a few examples.
