carb'd vs. fuel injection

ive got an 85 iroc-Z with tune port injection currently on a 350 bored .040 over. im just curious if i should put some more money out on better flow runner tubes for my TPI, or if i should take that to the swap meet and go to a carb set-up. just thrownin the question out there...thanks for all of ur suggestions...peace

fuel injection rocks, on horsepower tv they swapped from carb to fuel injection and gained a $hitload of hp from that... but i dont remember how much

Theres tons of aftermarket options for TPI. TPIS makes some great stuff. You need a bigger base, larger runners, and a bigger throttle body can help too. The upper plenum can be reused with no problems if you mildly port it to match the bigger runners.

you can get more hp from f/i BUT its harder to get, and alot more expensive.....

yea when there tuned right they can produce more i guess , but for someone that would like to do most of the tuning i would go with a carb cause there a hell of alot easier to tune

fi is more of a pain in the ass but its better in the long run.

i would suggest FI all the way, it is a bit more complex, expencive, and painfull to work on lol, but it is a far better use of your money in the long run.

I dunno bout all that. Ive got my 350 bored, 30 over, 3/4 racing cam, gear drive etc. etc. and its carbarated all the way. My god its a pain in the a$$. It runs way to rich and if i lean it out the thing wont run worth a crap, it will idle fine but once its n gear the damn thing idles rougher than $%^* and if you get on it well I wont say that ill get booted again..lol. The guy my freind got it from had the right thing in mind but he left the computer controlled dist in it (that was out of the 305 tbi) instead of putting a vacuum advanced dist which wouldnt let it advance so I changed that and it runs alot better now but it still needs alot of work to get her running really good. The next thing is im gettin rid of that edlbrock carb and goin with a holly or somethin abit easier to set and im going to replace the fuel pump.
