Does any one knows what's the type of GM transmission does a 96 Camaro (3.8L, auto) uses? Is it 4L60E?

I am trying to get a torque converter for my car, and there seems to various models for different GM transmission like 4L60E, 200-4R, 700-4R...

Where is the torque converter located? Is there a way in which I can look at my torque converter from inside/outside?

The 200-4R and the 700-R4 and older GM transmissions. Your car would have the 4L60E. The torque convertor is located between the engine and transmission, in the bellhousing. On my car theres a plastic dust shield that you can unbolt and from there you can see the torque convertor.

Are you referring to the part (sits around the gear stick) between the driver seat and the passenger seat, just in front of the console?

No the dust shield has to be removed from under the car. You cant get to the torque converter from inside the vehicle.
