Vehicle will not start

Vehicle will not start. Sometimes it will. When it doesn't, after inserting the Key the instrument panel goes crazy, needles jumping around (all of them) and does not start. When it does start it will run OK for a period then - DIE!! Any suggestions?? Have had the wiring harness repaired (so they say) to no avail..

Sounds like a loose connector. Have someone check the harness plugs and the wiring connections. You may even check the battery connection. They had the battery was disconnected during the repairs you mentioned. A loose battery connection WILL cause the symptoms you relate. Good Luck.

I checked all connections ( Battery and others) seemed to be OK. Vehicle when attempting to start makes a humming noise. As stated the gauges and lights in dash go crazy but NO STARTING!!

Sounds like a bad ignition switch. They can be a little trouble to change.
