Hey everyone, I'm currently in the market for a new car. I'm trading in my Camaro and was wondering how many people are satisfied with their prelude purchases. I'm looking mainly at the 97-01 preludes.

i bought my new(used, but "new" to me) prelude about 5 1/2 months ago and as a first time honda owner i cant say enough about 'em. my first car was a toyota camry which turned out to be a total lemon so this time around i was lookin forsomethin incredibly reliable and so far honda lives up to its name, definately. i got a 4th gen prelude which is older than the 97-01 and runs like new so the 5th gens gotta be better. preludes r quick, fun to drive, and ppl r always curious about em bc theyre unique. my :2cents:

well, i owned a 98 prelude for 5 years. even modded it gave me little to no problems. overall i was very happy with the prelude and woudl recommend it to anyone looking for a decently quick (not fast) and well-mannered 2+2 coupe. you get the benchmark honda reliability, more exclusivity for being a honda, handling and a very fun car to drive. it's a winner! :D

so you're probably wondering why i no longer have one. well, let's just say sometimes you just have to let go and move on to bigger and better things. well i did move on, at least to a bigger car. better?? in a lot of ways, yes but in other ways no. for all intents and purposes, i dont' regret selling the prelude although i do miss the car.

i say go for it. you may wanna check other people's opinions however. you're asking prelude owners, you're obviously going to get biased replies. just some food for thought.

i upgraded to my 97 prelude after driving a ford aerostar for a year. sometimes i wish i would've gotten a v6 or v8 domestic, but i still love my 4 banger. preludes are also rarer than most other cars, so you do get some uniqueness

I am quite biased, but I rather do like the 93-96 VTECs over the 5th gen. Aside from looks, you get a lighter chassis, an OBDI platform, and the exact same engine as the newer models (with slightly less horsepower that can easily be mended).

However, if you are the drag type, which many people on these boards are, you are better suited with a Z28 than a Honda.

the one thing i really love about my lude and my previous honda, is that i drive the snot out of them, and they never have any problems. it's right on 200,000, and it just doesn't show the signs of my abuse.

just to give you an idea of how i drive it, my old ford taurus... 3 transmissions in under 20,000. my old astro van.... busted the right rear axle clean off. my old lumina apv... 3 rack and pinions in it's life. my 00 chevy delivery truck... already sounding real bad :evillol:

but both hondas i owned, i've put the most miles and abuse on, and i just keep changing oil, and fixing things i usually broke fiddling with it.
