Speed sensor location; 2000 Grand Prix 3.1

Any assistance appreciated.

2000 Grand Prix, 3.1, running like sh**. Took it to Autozone, and they ran the diagnostic & said it was a speed sensor. It makes sense because my spedometer was jumping all over the place & car not shifting smooth.

Anyways, does anybody know where this is located on the vehicle. The guys at autozone were not exactly sure.

Pretty sure the speed sensor is located on teh differential.

If your car is a 3.1 and has a 4t60e then lifting the car taking away the right tire and the splash gards you would see behind the engine over the tranny facing the firewall a 2 cable small prong that is held in place by an 8mm screw. That is the sucker. You can take it out with a little bit of hand contourism, hope this helps.

I'm having the same problem with my speed sensor on my 2000 SE, i've already had it replaced when it first started happening. About 2 weeks after having it replaced the check engine light came back on, and its because of the speed sensor. Have you gotten yours taken care of yet or do u know whats goin on, im starting to think it might be something else to do with the speed sensor.
